VE (Victory in Europe) Day - 80 Years Celebration
On Thursday 8th May, Britain will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day, commemorating the end of the Second World War in Europe.
To mark the event, from VE Day and throughout May, Bushey Museum will be showing a photographic exhibition of Bushey in the war, garments from the Museum’s costume collection on display, in addition to our permanent WW1 and WW2 displays - and for four days only, Thursday 8th to Sunday 11th May at 2pm, will show a film of Bushey residents sharing their wartime experiences.
Entry is free and all are welcome to come and join the celebration.
Outings
Saturday 21 June 2025
Visit to Charleston House
Our summer outing is to Charleston. The farmhouse with its eccentric decor and beautiful gardens, nestled in the beautiful South Downs, was the home of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant of the Bloomsbury set. The Gallery will be exhibiting Inventing Post-Impressionism and Izumi Kato. Click here to download the Booking Form.
Tuesday 25 November 2025 (please note change of date)
Outing to 'Christmas at Kew'
Outing by coach. Last year we booked to see the Christmas Lights display at Kew Gardens - but sadly a severe storm forced Kew to cancel the event for the day we were due to go. Tickets sell out rapidly, as early as May. Secure your place by phoning Rita Castle 01923 236852. Click here for more details.

Outing to William Morris Gallery
Some Friends have proposed a visit to the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow, which celebrates its 75th year in 2025. Built in the 1740s, the Grade II* listed building was William Morris's family home from 1848 to 1856 and now serves as the only public Gallery devoted to William Morris. Following a major redevelopment, the Gallery re-opened in 2012. Please let us know if you are interested.
